Gospel of Trump
I am so exhaustively tired of having this conversation. I do not hate anyone. I don’t hate them for who they voted for. I don’t hate them for who they support politically. But I will be very clear about the following.
I hope that if you find yourself worshiping false idols and chasing after the political power that Satan offers; that you and others will be reminded of my posts and that the Holy Spirit uses them to convict you.
- Following after a King (or President) is a rejection of God’s authority over our lives. (1 Samuel 8 )
- Jesus’ Kingdom isn’t of this world ( John 18.36 )
- We’re not citizens of this World or this Country ( Phil 3.20 )
- Nor can we serve two masters ( Matt 6.24 )
Donald Trump is an immoral and godless antichrist and under God’s law has fallen short and is worthy of death. (As are all who fall short of God’s law.)
- He’s an adulterer. ( Leviticus 20.10 )
- A court convicted rapist. ( Deuteronomy 22.25 )
- A likely pedophile or friend of pedophiles. ( Matthew 18.6 )
- A warmonger. ( Too many verses to count, beyond loving your enemy, live by the sword and die by the sword, vengeance is the Lord’s, Do not murder….etc etc etc )
- A taker of bribes. ( Ecc 7.7 )
- One who takes advantage of the foreigner and withholds justice. ( Isaiah 10 )
- A man who does evil and approves of those who does so. ( Romans 1.32 )
- And from his own mouth, unknowing of the salvation of Christ and unrepentant.
On the other hand, Christians are called to share the truth in love.
Open rebuke is better than hidden love. - Proverbs 27.5
My prayer for anyone who aligns themself with the current iteration of the Republican Party is Peter’s final prayer for his congregation before his death.
2 Peter 3:17-ff
Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
If you know me personally, you know that this stance has cost me an immense amount over the last year. Friendships, family, and even a church family that I was part of for 3 decades and helped teach and preach at for a decade. I have been slandered, lied on, lied about, accused, and derided for begging fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to follow scripture and put their faith in Christ.
It is not hate that fuels my persistence, but a deep grief and disbelief that the American church has so quickly abandoned the Gospel of Christ for the False Gospel of Trump, one that leads its followers on the broad path to destruction.
